The Chief Executive of the Insolvency Service, Dean Beale, has announced that he will be leaving his post to take up a new role later this year.
Beale has been in charge of the Insolvency Service since 2018, overseeing a period of significant change for the organization. Under his leadership, the Service has introduced a number of new measures to improve the way it deals with insolvency cases, including the introduction of a new online insolvency register and the launch of a new complaints handling system.
In a statement, Beale said: “I am proud of what the Insolvency Service has achieved over the past five years. We have made significant progress in improving the way we deal with insolvency cases, and we are now a more efficient and effective organization.
“I would like to thank all of my colleagues at the Insolvency Service for their hard work and dedication. I wish them all the best for the future.”
The Insolvency Service is responsible for regulating the insolvency profession and investigating corporate insolvencies. It is also responsible for distributing dividends to creditors in insolvency cases.
The Insolvency Service is part of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

Dean Beale is a chartered accountant with over 30 years’ experience in the insolvency profession. He joined the Insolvency Service in 2015 as Deputy Chief Executive, before being appointed Chief Executive in 2018.
Before joining the Insolvency Service, Beale was a partner at PwC, where he led the firm’s corporate recovery and insolvency practice. He is also a past chairman of the Insolvency Practitioners Association (IPA).
BEIS has not yet announced who will succeed Beale as Chief Executive of the Insolvency Service.
