“We are deeply concerned by the Israeli military’s use of excessive force against Palestinian civilians, including the use of live ammunition,” said OHCHR spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani. “These actions appear to be in violation of international human rights law, which prohibits the use of lethal force except in situations of imminent threat to life or limb.”

The OHCHR also called on the international community to take action to protect Palestinian civilians and to ensure respect for international law in the occupied West Bank.
“The situation in the West Bank is a reminder of the urgent need for a just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict,” said Shamdasani. “This can only be achieved through negotiations based on international law and relevant UN resolutions.”
