Ottawa, ON – February 6, 2025 – The Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of International Development and Minister responsible for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, today announced $360.6 million in funding for global efforts to eliminate malnutrition.

- School feeding programs: These programs provide nutritious meals to children in school, helping them to stay healthy and focused on their studies.
- Health and nutrition interventions: These programs provide essential health services, such as vaccinations and deworming, to children and mothers.
The funding will be provided through the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD) and will be used to support programs in a number of countries, including:
- Ethiopia: $100 million
- Kenya: $75 million
- Malawi: $50 million
- Nigeria: $50 million
- Somalia: $35 million
- South Sudan: $30 million
- Yemen: $20.6 million
“Canada is committed to working with our partners to eliminate malnutrition and ensure that everyone has access to the food they need to live a healthy life,” said Minister Hussen. “This funding will help us to make a real difference in the lives of millions of people around the world.”
