The Honourable David McGuinty, Minister of National Defence, and the Honourable Terry Duguid, Minister of Public Safety, will attend a border security exercise at the Emerson port of entry in Manitoba on February 6, 2025.
The exercise, known as Operation Sentinel, will involve multiple government agencies and law enforcement partners working together to enhance border security and ensure public safety. The exercise will focus on simulating a range of potential threats, including smuggling, human trafficking, and terrorism.

Operation Sentinel will involve approximately 100 participants, including members of the Canada Border Services Agency, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Canadian Armed Forces, and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The exercise will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. CST at the Emerson port of entry.
