OTTAWA, Feb. 2, 2025 /CNW/ – Today, the Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of International Development, issued the following statement to mark the start of International Development Week, which runs from February 5 to 11, 2025:
“International Development Week is an opportunity for Canadians to come together and celebrate the important work being done around the world to end poverty and build a more just and equitable future for all.
“This year’s theme, ‘Building a Better World Together,’ highlights the interconnected nature of our world and the importance of working in partnership with developing countries to address global challenges.
“Canada is a global leader in international development, and we are committed to making a difference in the lives of people around the world. We are working with our partners to support sustainable economic growth, improve access to education and health care, and promote gender equality and human rights.
“We believe that everyone has the right to live a life of dignity and opportunity, regardless of where they live. By investing in international development, we are investing in a better future for all Canadians.
“During International Development Week, I encourage Canadians to learn more about the work being done by our government and our partners to end poverty and build a more just and equitable world.
“Together, we can make a difference. Let’s build a better world together.”
