Winnipeg, Manitoba – January 29, 2025 – The Government of Canada is committed to supporting Indigenous Peoples in their efforts to improve their health and well-being through sport and physical activity.
The Sport for Social Development in Indigenous Communities (SSDIC) program provides funding to Indigenous organizations to deliver sport-based programs that address social issues facing Indigenous youth and adults.
In Winnipeg, Manitoba, the following organizations have been approved for funding under the SSDIC program for the 2024-2026 funding cycle:
Organization: Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg Project: Indigenous Youth Leadership Program Funding: $250,000
Organization: Manitoba Aboriginal Sports and Recreation Council Inc. Project: Indigenous Sport ParticipACTION Program Funding: $300,000
