The Order will come into force on 30th January 2025 and will have the effect of prohibiting all vehicles from proceeding along the following lengths of road:
- The M4 Motorway eastbound between Junction 34 (Miskin), Rhondda Cynon Taf and Junction 49 (Pont Abraham), Carmarthenshire.
- The M4 Motorway westbound between Junction 49 (Pont Abraham), Carmarthenshire and Junction 34 (Miskin), Rhondda Cynon Taf.
The prohibition will be in place 24 hours a day for a period of 12 months.
The Order is being made to enable Network Rail to carry out essential maintenance and improvement works to the railway bridge over the M4 Motorway at Junction 42 (Bridgend).
During the closure, traffic will be diverted via the following alternative routes:
- Eastbound traffic will be diverted via the A48(M) and A48.
- Westbound traffic will be diverted via the A48 and A48(M).
The Welsh Government has made this Order in order to ensure the safety of the public and to minimise disruption to traffic during the works.
Any person who fails to comply with the Order is liable to a fine of up to £1,000.
