Ankara, 25 January 2025 – “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns the heinous terrorist attack carried out by the PKK terrorist organization on Iraqi soil, which resulted in the tragic loss of two Iraqi soldiers. This cowardly act is a violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and an affront to the Iraqi people.
Turkey stands in solidarity with Iraq in the fight against terrorism and extends its deepest condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers. We offer our full support to the Iraqi government in its efforts to combat the PKK and other terrorist organizations.
The PKK is a designated terrorist organization by Turkey and many other countries. Its continued attacks on innocent civilians in Turkey, Iraq, and Syria are a grave threat to regional stability and security. We call on the international community to condemn the PKK’s terrorist activities and to support the efforts to bring them to justice.
Turkey remains committed to working closely with Iraq and other regional partners to combat terrorism and promote peace and stability in the region. We believe that only through collective action can we defeat this scourge.”
