January 22, 2025

Today, the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), announced a $2.5 million investment through the Women Entrepreneurship Fund to support women-led businesses and organizations in southern Ontario.

This investment will help women entrepreneurs and business owners access the resources, training, and mentorship they need to start, grow, and succeed in their businesses. It will also support women-led organizations that are working to advance gender equality and economic empowerment in the region.

“Our government is committed to supporting women-led businesses and organizations in southern Ontario,” said Hajdu. “This investment will help women entrepreneurs access the resources and support they need to succeed, and it will also support organizations that are working to advance gender equality in the region.”

The Women Entrepreneurship Fund is a $50 million fund that provides repayable loans, advisory services, and mentorship to women-led businesses and organizations. The fund is one of several initiatives that the Government of Canada has launched to support women entrepreneurs, including the Women Entrepreneurship Strategy and the Women’s Enterprise Initiative.

“This investment is a game-changer for women entrepreneurs in southern Ontario,” said Carla Qualtrough, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion. “It will help women access the resources and support they need to start, grow, and succeed in their businesses, and it will also support organizations that are working to advance gender equality in the region.”

The Women Entrepreneurship Fund is administered by FedDev Ontario. FedDev Ontario is a federal agency that supports economic development in southern Ontario by providing funding and services to businesses, community organizations, and academic institutions.

“We are proud to support women entrepreneurs and business owners in southern Ontario,” said Tony Clement, President of FedDev Ontario. “This investment will help women access the resources and support they need to succeed, and it will also support organizations that are working to advance gender equality in the region.”
