NASA Marshall Invites Media to Local Day of Remembrance Event
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Jan. 21, 2025) – NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, will host a local Day of Remembrance event on Friday, Jan. 27, 2025, to honor the crew of the Space Shuttle Challenger, which was lost in a tragic accident on Jan. 28, 1986.
The event will be held at the Marshall Center’s Activities Building 4200 from 10 a.m. to noon CST. Media representatives are invited to attend and cover the event.
The Day of Remembrance is a nationwide observance that commemorates the seven crew members who lost their lives in the Challenger disaster: Commander Francis R. Scobee, Mission Specialist Michael J. Smith, Mission Specialist Judith A. Resnik, Mission Specialist Ellison S. Onizuka, Mission Specialist Ronald E. McNair, Payload Specialist Gregory B. Jarvis, and Teacher in Space Christa McAuliffe.
