Brussels, 20 January 2025 – The Presidency of the FABEC (Functional Airspace Block Europe Central) Executive Board has been transferred to Luxembourg, represented by Mr. Claude Lieffrig, Director of Luxembourg’s air navigation service provider (ANSP), LuxNavigation. This handover marks the beginning of Luxembourg’s two-year term as FABEC President.
FABEC is a cooperative body of 10 ANSPs across Central Europe, including Belgium, Germany, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. It is responsible for coordinating and improving air traffic services in the region.
The Presidency of the FABEC Executive Board is rotated among member states every two years. During their tenure, the Presidency is responsible for leading the FABEC Executive Board and representing FABEC in external relations.
In addition to the Presidency handover, LVNL (Luchtverkeersleiding Nederland), the ANSP of the Netherlands, has taken over the Chairmanship of the FABEC CEO Board. Mr. Huub van Eijsden, CEO of LVNL, will lead the CEO Board for the next two years.
The CEO Board is responsible for providing strategic guidance to FABEC and developing and implementing the FABEC Master Plan.
Commenting on the handover, Mr. Lieffrig said: “I am honored to assume the Presidency of FABEC and lead this important organization. FABEC plays a vital role in improving air traffic management in Central Europe, and I look forward to working with our member states to continue this progress.”
