Honolulu, Hawaii – January 17, 2025 – The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today the appointment of David K. Porter as Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Honolulu Field Office. SAC Porter will lead the FBI’s mission in Hawaii, which includes investigating federal crimes, protecting national security, and providing law enforcement support to local, state, and federal partners.

Prior to his appointment in Honolulu, SAC Porter served as the Deputy Assistant Director of the FBI’s Cyber Division at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. In this role, he was responsible for the FBI’s national response to cybercrime and cyber threats. He also served as the Section Chief of the Cyber Crimes Unit and as an FBI Supervisory Special Agent in the San Francisco Field Office.

Throughout his distinguished career, SAC Porter has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the FBI Director’s Award for Excellence in Cyber Investigations and the National Cyber Security Alliance’s (NCSA) Cyber Security Leader Award.

He is a member of the American Academy of Computer Science and Engineering and the National Cyber Security Alliance.

The Honolulu Field Office is responsible for investigating a wide range of federal crimes in Hawaii, including terrorism, counterintelligence, cybercrime, and public corruption. The office also works closely with local law enforcement agencies to combat violent crime and other threats to the community.
