OTTAWA, ON – Today, the Government of Canada is honouring the victims of Flight PS752 and marking five years since the tragedy that took their lives.
On January 8, 2020, Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752 was shot down by an Iranian surface-to-air missile shortly after takeoff from Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport. All 176 people on board, including 55 Canadian citizens and 30 permanent residents, were killed.
“Today, we remember the innocent lives that were lost in this horrific tragedy,” said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. “We stand with the families and friends of the victims, and with all those who have been affected by this senseless act of violence.”
