Competence Center for Easy Language and Sign Language

With the Competence Center for Easy Language and Sign Language, people with cognitive disabilities and deaf people will receive even better support in the future. The Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs is providing funding of 1.5 million euros for the establishment of the center.
The Competence Center for Easy Language and Sign Language is a joint project of the German Association for the Deaf (DGB) and the Federal Association of People with Learning Disabilities (BVLV). The center will be located in Berlin and will start its work in January 2025.
The center will provide a wide range of services, including:
- Developing and providing training courses on easy language and sign language
- Providing advice and support to organizations and institutions on how to make their information and services accessible to people with cognitive disabilities and deaf people
- Conducting research on easy language and sign language
- Raising awareness of easy language and sign language
