Regina, Saskatchewan – November 26, 2024 – Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister Lawrence MacAulay today attended Agribition, North America’s largest livestock exhibition, and announced the Government of Canada’s continued support for Canadian agriculture.
“Our government recognizes the importance of agriculture to the Canadian economy and the livelihoods of Canadian families,” said Minister MacAulay. “That’s why we are investing in initiatives that will help the sector grow and prosper.”
Minister MacAulay announced a number of measures to support Canadian agriculture, including:
- $50 million to help farmers adopt new technologies and practices that will make their operations more efficient and sustainable.
- $25 million to support research and development in the agriculture sector.
- $10 million to help farmers market their products domestically and internationally.
Minister MacAulay also announced that the Government of Canada will be providing $5 million to Agribition to support the expansion of its facilities.
“Agribition is a world-class event that showcases the best of Canadian agriculture,” said Minister MacAulay. “This investment will help Agribition continue to grow and attract visitors from around the world.”
These announcements were welcomed by Canadian farmers and agricultural organizations.
