The Order will come into operation on Monday 9 December 2024.

The Order will introduce the following waiting restrictions:

  • No Waiting at Any Time on:

    • Main Street (both sides) between its junctions with Linenhall Avenue and Millbank Street
    • The Square (both sides)
    • Linenhall Avenue (both sides) between its junctions with Main Street and Millbank Street
    • Millbank Street (both sides) between its junctions with Main Street and Linenhall Avenue
    • Church Street (both sides) between its junctions with Main Street and Chapel Street
    • Chapel Street (both sides) between its junctions with Main Street and Church Street
  • No Waiting (Loading Only) Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm on:

    • Main Street (both sides) between its junctions with Linenhall Avenue and Nelson Avenue
  • No Waiting (Loading Only) Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm except on market days when the restriction will apply from 8am to 12 noon on:

    • Main Street (both sides) between its junctions with Nelson Avenue and Millbank Street

Exemptions

The restrictions will not apply to:

  • Vehicles used for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes
  • Vehicles used in connection with the delivery or collection of postal packets as defined by the Postal Services Act 2000
  • Vehicles used in connection with the removal of any obstruction to traffic
  • Vehicles used in connection with the maintenance of the road
  • Vehicles used by a statutory undertaker in the performance of its functions

Consultation

The DfI consulted with the statutory consultees and other relevant stakeholders on the proposed waiting restrictions.
