November 14, 2024 – Ottawa, ON – Today, the Government of Canada announced $1.5 million in funding to support La Belle Cabane, a non-profit organization that provides food security and community support services in Montreal, Quebec.
The funding will be used to expand La Belle Cabane’s food distribution programs, including its mobile food bank and community kitchen. It will also help to increase the organization’s capacity to provide social and educational services to vulnerable populations.
“La Belle Cabane is a lifeline for so many people in Montreal,” said the Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion. “This funding will help the organization to continue its vital work, ensuring that everyone in our community has access to nutritious food and the support they need to thrive.”
La Belle Cabane has been providing food security and community support services to Montrealers since 1989. The organization operates a food bank, a mobile food bank, a community kitchen, and a variety of social and educational programs.
