Minister Valdez Announces Funding to Empower Women Entrepreneurs
Ottawa, November 8, 2024 – The Honourable Carla Valdez, Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Rural Economic Development, today announced an investment of $20 million to help hundreds of women entrepreneurs across Canada grow their skills and businesses.
“Women entrepreneurs are essential contributors to our economy, but they often face unique challenges in accessing the resources and support they need to succeed,” said Minister Valdez. “This investment will help remove barriers and create a more level playing field for women who want to start and grow their own businesses.”
The funding will be provided through the Women Entrepreneurship Fund, which supports women-owned businesses at every stage of growth. The fund provides a range of services, including mentorship, training, and access to capital.
This investment will allow the Women Entrepreneurship Fund to expand its reach to more women across Canada, with a focus on rural and remote communities. It will also support the development of new programs and services tailored to the specific needs of women entrepreneurs.
“I am grateful for this investment in women entrepreneurs,” said Mary Smith, CEO of XYZ Company. “As a woman-owned business, we have faced challenges in accessing the resources we need to grow. This funding will allow us to expand our operations and create more jobs in our community.”
The investment in the Women Entrepreneurship Fund is part of the government’s commitment to advancing gender equality and supporting women’s economic empowerment. The government has also committed to investing $35 million in the Women’s Business Enterprise Council of Canada, which provides advocacy and support to women entrepreneurs.
“We know that when women succeed, our economy succeeds,” said Minister Valdez. “This investment is a smart investment in our future.”
