The Animal Health (Miscellaneous Fees) (Amendment and Revocation) (Wales) Order 2024 / Gorchymyn Iechyd Anifeiliaid (Ffioedd Amrywiol) (Diwygio a Dirymu) (Cymru) 2024

On 8 November 2024, the Animal Health (Miscellaneous Fees) (Amendment and Revocation) (Wales) Order 2024 came into force. This new legislation has the effect of amending the Animal Health (Miscellaneous Fees) (Wales) Order 2003 (“the principal Order”) and revoking the Animal Health (Miscellaneous Fees) (Wales) (Amendment) Order 2017.

The main changes introduced by the new Order are as follows:

  • The fee for an official veterinarian to attend at a place other than their office or the premises of the applicant (i.e. a call-out fee) has been increased from £139 to £160.
  • The fee for an official veterinarian to travel to a place other than their office or the premises of the applicant (i.e. a mileage fee) has been increased from £0.45 per mile to £0.50 per mile.

The new Order also makes a number of minor and technical amendments to the principal Order, including:

  • Updating the references to the Animal Health Act 1981 in the principal Order to reflect the fact that the Act has been amended by the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2002.
  • Removing the requirement for an official veterinarian to provide a certificate of attendance and mileage when charging a call-out fee or mileage fee.

The new Order is available to view on the Welsh Government website:
