
FBI Announces Appointment of Timothy A. Ferguson as Assistant Director of the Criminal Justice Information Services Division

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has announced the appointment of Timothy A. Ferguson as the Assistant Director of the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division. Ferguson will assume his new role on March 13, 2025.
As Assistant Director, Ferguson will lead the division responsible for managing and disseminating critical criminal justice information to law enforcement and justice agencies nationwide. Ferguson has served with the FBI for over 25 years, holding various positions of increasing responsibility within the CJIS Division. Most recently, he served as the Deputy Assistant Director for CJIS Technology and Solution Services. In this role, he oversaw the development and implementation of cutting-edge technologies and systems to enhance information sharing and improve law enforcement efficiency.
Throughout his career, Ferguson has played a key role in developing and implementing key FBI initiatives, including the Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) and the Global Criminal Justice Information Sharing System (GCJISS). These programs have significantly enhanced the FBI’s ability to collaborate with domestic and international partners in combating crime and terrorism.
Ferguson is a graduate of the University of Maryland, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Virginia.
