
Government of Canada Invests $36.1 Million in Southern Ontario’s Life Sciences Sector
OTTAWA, ONTARIO, February 14, 2025 – The Government of Canada, through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), is investing $36.1 million in the life sciences sector in southern Ontario. This investment will support innovative research, create jobs, and strengthen the region’s economy.
“Our government is committed to supporting Canada’s life sciences sector,” said the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages. “This investment will help businesses in southern Ontario scale up their operations, develop new products and services, and create jobs. It will also strengthen Canada’s leadership in this important sector.”
The funding will be used to support a range of initiatives, including:

Research and development: The government will provide $20 million to support research and development (R&D) projects in southern Ontario’s life sciences sector. This funding will help businesses develop new products and services, and bring them to market.
