Minister Fisher Announces Funding to Help Veterans Succeed in Careers after Service
Ottawa, ON – February 10, 2025 – The Honourable Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence, today announced a $20 million investment to support a new program that will help Veterans transition to successful careers after service.
The Veteran Career Transition Program (VCTP) will provide Veterans with access to career counselling, training, and job placement assistance. The program will be delivered by the Canadian Armed Forces Transition Group (CAF TG) in partnership with Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) and Service Canada.
“Our Veterans have made great sacrifices for our country, and we owe them the best possible support when they return to civilian life,” said Minister MacAulay. “This program will help Veterans develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their careers after service.”
The VCTP will be tailored to the individual needs of Veterans, and will include:
- Career counselling and assessment
- Training and education
- Job placement assistance
- Networking opportunities
- Mentorship
The program will be available to all Veterans, regardless of their age or time of service. It will be offered in both official languages, and will be available across Canada.
“This program is a valuable addition to the support services available to Veterans,” said Brigadier-General Denis D. Thompson, Commander of the CAF TG. “It will help Veterans make a successful transition to civilian life and find meaningful careers that match their skills and interests.”
VAC is committed to providing Veterans with the support they need to succeed in all aspects of their lives. The VCTP is one of several initiatives that VAC is developing to help Veterans transition to successful careers after service.
