Lapeer, NY (February 7, 2025) – The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will host a public information meeting on Thursday, February 23, 2025, to discuss plans for the replacement of the Lapeer Bridge in the Town of Lapeer, Cortland County.
The meeting will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Lapeer Fire Hall, located at 2792 Lapeer Road, Lapeer, NY 13085.
The existing Lapeer Bridge is a 120-foot-long, two-lane bridge that carries Lapeer Road over Otter Creek. The bridge was built in 1957 and is in need of replacement due to its deteriorating condition.
The proposed replacement bridge will be a 140-foot-long, single-span structure with two 12-foot-wide travel lanes and 8-foot-wide shoulders. The new bridge will be designed to accommodate both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
The project will also include the replacement of approximately 0.1 mile of roadway approaches to the bridge, as well as the installation of new drainage structures and guiderails.
The project is expected to begin in spring 2026 and be completed by fall 2027. The total cost of the project is estimated to be $4 million.
