A top United Nations official has warned of a “rapidly escalating” humanitarian crisis in two Sudanese states, where fighting between government forces and rebels has displaced tens of thousands of people.
The UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Mark Lowcock, said in a statement that the violence in West Darfur and South Kordofan states had “reached alarming levels” in recent weeks.
