The United Kingdom welcomes the opportunity to discuss the situation in South Sudan. We thank SRSG Shearer for his briefing.
We welcome the progress that has been made in implementing the 2018 peace agreement. The formation of a unity government and the establishment of a ceasefire are important steps forward.
However, we are concerned about the ongoing violence in some parts of the country and the reports of human rights abuses.
