OTTAWA, ON – Today, the Minister of International Development, Harjit S. Sajjan, announced new support for Canadian small and medium-sized non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working in global development.
The new funding will provide $20 million over five years to support these organizations in their work to reduce poverty, promote human rights, and improve the lives of people around the world.
“Canadian small and medium-sized NGOs play a critical role in global development, working on the front lines to make a difference in the lives of people in need,” said Minister Sajjan. “This new funding will help them continue their important work and make a real impact in the world.”
The funding will be provided through the Small and Medium-Sized NGO Capacity Development Program, which supports NGOs with annual budgets of less than $10 million. The program provides funding for a variety of activities, including:
- Capacity building: NGOs can use this funding to strengthen their organizational capacity, such as improving their financial management systems, developing strategic plans, and increasing their impact.
- Innovation: NGOs can use this funding to develop and implement innovative approaches to global development challenges.
