North Cornwall coast path improvements completed

Work to improve access to some of Cornwall’s most beautiful coastline has been completed – and walkers are being urged to enjoy the new and improved paths.
Natural England, working with Cormac Solutions Ltd, has upgraded around 12km of the South West Coast Path between Tintagel and Boscastle.
The improvements have included widening narrow sections of path, resurfacing, and improving drainage.
Erosion control measures – such as new rock armour, retaining walls, and steps – have also been installed to protect the coastline and the path.
The works, which started in November 2023, were completed on schedule and within budget.
Natural England’s area manager for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, David Allaway, said: “We are delighted to have completed these improvements to the South West Coast Path.
“This stretch of coastline is incredibly popular with walkers, and the new improvements will make it even more enjoyable. We would encourage everyone to come and experience the stunning scenery for themselves.”
Cormac Solutions Ltd’s senior project manager, Scott Higman, said: “We are very pleased to have worked with Natural England on this project.
“The improvements will make a real difference to walkers, and we are confident that they will enjoy the new and improved path.”
The South West Coast Path is a National Trail that runs for 630 miles around the coast of Devon and Cornwall. It is one of the most popular walking trails in the UK, and attracts around 10 million visitors each year.
