Development Cooperation: FDFA and EAER Implement Parliament’s Decisions
Bern, January 29, 2025 – Today, the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) and the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER) have begun implementing the decisions made by the Federal Assembly on September 28 and 29, 2024. This includes increasing funding for humanitarian aid and allocating funds to education and job training programs in developing countries.
In response to the growing humanitarian crises around the world, the FDFA will increase its spending on humanitarian aid by CHF 100 million per year for the next four years. This additional funding will be used to provide emergency assistance to victims of natural disasters, armed conflicts, and other crises.
The EAER has also been allocated additional funding to support education and job training programs in developing countries. This funding will be used to improve access to education for girls and women, and to provide training for young people to help them find work and improve their economic opportunities.
The FDFA and EAER will work together to implement these decisions and ensure that the funds are used effectively to help people in need. The departments will also monitor the progress of these programs and report back to the Federal Assembly on a regular basis.
