OTTAWA, ON – The Minister of Transport and Internal Trade, the Honourable Omar Alghabra, today announced the reappointment of Captain Sandy Taylor as Chairperson of the Pacific Pilotage Authority (PPA) for a three-year term, effective February 1, 2025.
Captain Taylor has over 40 years of experience in the marine industry, including serving as a pilot and senior manager at the PPA. He has also served as a director on the boards of the Canadian Pilotage Association and the International Maritime Pilots’ Association.
“I am pleased to announce the reappointment of Captain Taylor as Chairperson of the PPA,” said Minister Alghabra. “His extensive experience and knowledge of the pilotage industry will be invaluable as the PPA continues its important work of ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vessels in the Pacific waters of Canada.”
The PPA is responsible for providing pilotage services in the waters of British Columbia, including the ports of Vancouver, Prince Rupert, and Kitimat. The PPA also provides pilotage services in the Mackenzie River Delta in the Northwest Territories.
