The Government of Canada is investing $960,000 in FedNor projects in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, to support job creation, business growth, and economic development in the region.

The funding was announced today by the Honourable Paul Lefebvre, Member of Parliament for Sudbury, on behalf of the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for FedNor.

“Our government is committed to supporting economic growth and job creation in Northern Ontario,” said MP Lefebvre. “These FedNor investments will help businesses in Greater Sudbury innovate, expand, and create good, well-paying jobs for the people of our community.”

The funding will be used to support the following projects:

  • $500,000 for the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce to create a business accelerator program. The program will provide mentorship, training, and support to help small and medium-sized businesses in Greater Sudbury start up, scale up, and succeed.
  • $260,000 for the City of Greater Sudbury to develop a tourism marketing strategy. The strategy will help the city attract more visitors and boost the local economy.
  • $200,000 for the Sudbury Innovation Centre to support the development of new products and services by local businesses. The centre will provide access to specialized equipment, expertise, and training.

“These FedNor investments will make a real difference in the lives of people in Greater Sudbury,” said Minister Hajdu. “They will help create jobs, grow businesses, and strengthen the local economy.”

The Government of Canada is committed to working with its partners to build a strong, sustainable economy in Northern Ontario. FedNor’s investments in Greater Sudbury are part of this commitment.
