Essential Sites: What’s New

The French government has updated its list of essential sites, which are considered critical to the country’s national security and economy. The new list includes 200 sites, up from 150 on the previous list.
The sites on the list include:
- Nuclear power plants
- Chemical plants
- Water treatment facilities
- Transportation hubs
- Government buildings
- Financial institutions
The government has also created a new category of essential sites, called “critical infrastructure.” These sites are considered to be even more important than the other essential sites, and they will be subject to additional security measures.
