Embraer announces plans to launch a new family of narrow-body aircraft

São José dos Campos, Brazil – Embraer, the Brazilian aerospace manufacturer, has announced plans to launch a new family of narrow-body aircraft. The aircraft, known as the E-Jets E4, will be designed to replace the company’s current E-Jets family of aircraft, which have been in production since 2002.

The E-Jets E4 family will consist of three aircraft: the E-175E4, the E-195E4, and the E-210E4. The E-175E4 will be the smallest aircraft in the family, with a capacity of up to 100 passengers. The E-195E4 will be the mid-size aircraft in the family, with a capacity of up to 120 passengers. The E-210E4 will be the largest aircraft in the family, with a capacity of up to 136 passengers.

“Our E-Jets E2 program has been a great success for Embraer and our customers,” said John Slattery, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation. “We are building upon that success with the launch of the E-Jets E4 family, which will offer our customers the most advanced and efficient narrow-body aircraft on the market.”

The E-Jets E4 family will incorporate a number of new technologies, including:

  • New wings: The E-Jets E4 family will feature new wings that are designed to reduce drag and improve fuel efficiency. The wings will also be equipped with new winglets, which will further improve aerodynamic performance.
  • New engines: The E-Jets E4 family will be powered by new engines that are more fuel-efficient and quieter than the engines used on the current E-Jets family. The engines will also be equipped with new nacelles, which will reduce drag and improve airflow.
  • New avionics: The E-Jets E4 family will be equipped with new avionics that are designed to improve situational awareness and reduce pilot workload. The avionics will include a new flight management system, a new graphical user interface, and a new navigation system.

The E-Jets E4 family will be manufactured at Embraer’s facility in São José dos Campos, Brazil. The aircraft are scheduled to enter service in 2027.

“We are confident that the E-Jets E4 family will be a major success in the narrow-body aircraft market,” said Slattery. “We have a strong track record of developing and manufacturing successful aircraft, and we are excited to bring the next generation of E-Jets to the market.”
