Eight students awarded the Price McIntosh Bursary from Library and Archives Canada
Ottawa, Ontario – January 23, 2025 – Library and Archives Canada (LAC) is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2025 Price McIntosh Bursary. This bursary supports students pursuing graduate studies in archival studies or a related field.
The Price McIntosh Bursary was established in 2020 to honour the legacy of Price McIntosh, a renowned Canadian archivist and historian. The bursary provides financial assistance to students who demonstrate academic excellence, research potential, and a commitment to the archival profession.
This year, eight students were awarded the bursary:
- Alexandra Beaulieu (Université de Montréal)
- Cameron Davidson (University of Toronto)
- Emily Francis (University of British Columbia)
- Hailey Johnston (Western University)
- Madeline Leclerc (Université Laval)
- Nicholas Moreau (University of Ottawa)
- Sarah Patterson (Dalhousie University)
- Zachary Smith (Queen’s University)
The recipients were selected by a committee of experts from LAC and the archival community. The committee considered each applicant’s academic record, research proposal, and letters of reference.
The bursary recipients will receive $5,000 each to support their graduate studies. They will also have the opportunity to participate in a mentorship program with LAC staff.
“We are delighted to award this bursary to such a talented group of students,” said Guy Berthiaume, Librarian and Archivist of Canada. “Their research interests reflect the diversity and importance of archival studies today. We are confident that they will make significant contributions to the field.”
The Price McIntosh Bursary is part of LAC’s ongoing commitment to supporting the next generation of archivists. LAC offers a range of programs and initiatives to encourage students to pursue careers in archival studies, including internships, scholarships, and workshops.
