ARLINGTON, Va.–The Chief of the National Guard Bureau, Gen. Daniel R. Hokanson, met with Guardsmen who are supporting the 60th Presidential Inauguration at the District of Columbia Armory here today.
Hokanson thanked the Guardsmen for their service and sacrifice, and emphasized the importance of their mission.
“You are here to support the peaceful transfer of power, which is a cornerstone of our democracy,” Hokanson said. “I am confident that you will represent the National Guard and our nation with honor and distinction.”
The Guardsmen who are supporting the inauguration come from all 50 states, three territories and the District of Columbia. They are performing a variety of tasks, including crowd control, traffic control, security, and medical support.
