Geneva – UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk on Monday hailed “signs of new beginnings” in Lebanon and Syria, while urging continued vigilance and support for the protection and promotion of human rights in both countries.
“I am encouraged by the recent developments in both Lebanon and Syria, which have the potential to usher in a new era of peace and stability for the region,” Türk said. “However, it is essential that we remain vigilant and continue to support the efforts of all those working to build a more just and equitable future for the people of these countries.”
