Arsjad graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Business at Padjajaran University in Bandung. He began his career as a journalist for the Tempo magazine in 1982, before moving to the banking industry in 1985. He worked for several banks, including Bank Niaga and Bank Danamon, before joining Bank Indonesia in 1998.
As Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, Arsjad was responsible for financial stability, monetary policy, and international relations. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
In 2018, Arsjad stepped down from his position at Bank Indonesia to focus on his business interests. He is currently the Chairman of PT Indika Energy Tbk and also serves on the boards of several other companies, including PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk, PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk, and PT Pertamina (Persero).
