Andorra la Vella, Andorra – A new photographic exhibition by renowned photographer Domènec Umbert, entitled “El Sobirà Orde de Malta: Història i Actualitat” (The Sovereign Order of Malta: History and Modernity), opened at the ArtalRoc Art Gallery in Andorra la Vella.
The exhibition, which is part of the Order’s 900th-anniversary celebrations, showcases Umbert’s stunning images of the Order’s history, present-day activities, and humanitarian missions.
Umbert, who has been documenting the Order’s work for several years, has captured intimate portraits of its members, including Grand Master Fra’ Marco Luzzago, and poignant scenes of their humanitarian efforts in conflict zones and disaster areas.
“I wanted to share the extraordinary story of the Order of Malta, which has dedicated itself to serving the poor and sick for almost a millennium,” said Umbert. “Their unwavering commitment to humanitarianism is an inspiration to us all.”
The exhibition also features historical photographs and documents that trace the Order’s origins to the 11th century. Visitors can learn about the Order’s role in the Crusades, its establishment as a sovereign state in the 16th century, and its modern-day activities as a leading humanitarian organization.
