The Government of Canada is investing $10 million over five years to support organizations in strengthening their capacity to advance gender equality in Canada. This funding will help organizations to develop and implement innovative programs and initiatives that address the systemic barriers faced by women, girls, and gender-diverse people.
“Our government is committed to achieving gender equality in Canada,” said the Honourable Marci Ien, Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Youth. “This investment will help organizations to build their capacity and make a real difference in the lives of women, girls, and gender-diverse people across the country.”
The funding will be provided through the Capacity-building Fund for Women’s Organizations, which is part of the Government of Canada’s Feminist Response and Recovery Fund. The Fund supports organizations that are working to advance gender equality in a variety of areas, including:

- Violence against women and girls
- Leadership and representation
- Health and well-being
- Education and skills development
“This funding will allow us to expand our programs and reach more women and girls who are facing barriers to success,” said Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond, CEO of the Indian Residential School Survivors Society. “We are grateful for the Government of Canada’s investment in gender equality.”
