NASA Selects Electrical Systems Engineering Services Contractor
January 8, 2025
Greenbelt, Md. – NASA has selected Jacobs Technology Inc. of Tullahoma, Tennessee, to provide electrical systems engineering services in support of the agency’s Artemis program. The contract has a potential value of $69 million and a period of performance of five years.
Under the contract, Jacobs will provide engineering services for the electrical power systems on NASA’s Orion spacecraft, Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, and Gateway lunar outpost. These systems provide power to the spacecraft, including the life support systems, avionics, and propulsion systems.
Jacobs will also provide engineering support for the development and testing of new electrical power technologies for future Artemis missions. This includes work on advanced solar arrays, batteries, and power management systems.
“Jacobs has a long history of providing engineering services for NASA’s space exploration programs,” said Chris Ferguson, NASA’s Artemis mission manager. “We are confident that they will continue to provide the high-quality engineering support that is essential for the success of the Artemis program.”
The Artemis program is NASA’s plan to return humans to the Moon by 2024 and establish a sustainable human presence on the lunar surface by 2030. The program includes the development of the Orion spacecraft, SLS rocket, and Gateway lunar outpost.
