Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that $101.8 million in funding is now available for rail and port infrastructure projects statewide through the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvement (CRISI) Program. The CRISI Program provides grants to municipalities, public benefit corporations, and railroads for projects that improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the state’s rail and port infrastructure.
“New York’s rail and port infrastructure is vital to our economy and our way of life,” Governor Hochul said. “This funding will help us to improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our transportation system, and create jobs in the process.”
The CRISI Program is funded through the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT). Eligible projects include:
- Rail line rehabilitation and improvements
- Bridge and tunnel repairs and replacements
- Grade crossing safety improvements
- Port facility upgrades
- Rail-related economic development projects
“The CRISI Program is a key part of our efforts to improve the state’s transportation infrastructure,” NYSDOT Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez said. “These grants will help us to make our rail and port systems safer, more reliable, and more efficient.”
The CRISI Program is open to municipalities, public benefit corporations, and railroads. Applications are due by March 31, 2025.
