Bowden, AB – On January 3, 2025, an inmate from Bowden Institution died while in custody.
The inmate, a 35-year-old man, was found unresponsive in his cell at approximately 11:00 p.m. Correctional officers immediately began life-saving measures and called for medical assistance. Paramedics arrived and transported the inmate to hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:00 a.m.
The RCMP were notified and are investigating the circumstances of the death. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.
