The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Steve Barclay, has today confirmed that Ian Taylor CBE has been selected as the preferred candidate to be the next Chair of The Crown Estate.
Mr Taylor has over 30 years of experience in the energy and infrastructure sectors, and is currently the Chair of the Oil and Gas Authority. He has also held a number of senior positions at BP, including Chief Executive Officer and Group Chief Executive.
Mr Taylor will succeed Sir Michael Fallon, who has been Chair of The Crown Estate since 2016. Sir Michael will step down from his role at the end of March 2025.
The Crown Estate is one of the largest property portfolios in the world, with a value of £15.6 billion. It manages a diverse range of assets, including land, buildings, renewable energy projects, and minerals.

The appointment of Mr Taylor is subject to the approval of Her Majesty The Queen.
