Ottawa, December 19, 2024 – The Honourable David Lametti, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following judicial appointment:

  • The Honourable Pierre-Marc Johnson is appointed a puisne judge of the Superior Court of Quebec for the district of Montreal. Mr. Justice Johnson replaces Madam Justice Anna-Marie Lamer, who elected to become a supernumerary judge effective October 28, 2024.

Biography

Mr. Justice Pierre-Marc Johnson received a Bachelor of Laws from the Université de Montréal in 1984. He was admitted to the Barreau du Québec in 1985 and practised family law and youth protection law.

In addition to his significant contributions to legal associations such as the Young Bar Association of Montreal and the Canadian Bar Association, he was a member of the Bâtonnier’s Committee of the Barreau du Québec from 2006 to 2015.

Mr. Justice Johnson was also a member of the Quebec Liberal Party from 1985 to 2001, during which time he served as Minister of Justice and Attorney General from 1989 to 1994 and as Minister of Finance from 1994 to 1998.
