1. Introduction
The Welsh Government has made an Order under sections 14(1) and 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to temporarily prohibit and restrict traffic on the A465 Trunk Road from Resolven Roundabout to Glynneath Roundabout, Neath Port Talbot.
2. Purpose
The purpose of the Order is to allow essential resurfacing and associated works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to commence on or after 8th January 2025 and to be completed by 26th July 2025.
3. Effect of the Order
The Order will come into force on 8th January 2025 and will have the following effect:
- Temporary Prohibition of Traffic:
The A465 Trunk Road from Resolven Roundabout to Glynneath Roundabout will be closed to all vehicular traffic (except vehicles engaged in the works and emergency services vehicles) from 8:00pm to 6:00am each night.
- Temporary Restriction of Traffic:
During the prohibited hours, a signed diversion route for vehicular traffic will be in place via the A4067, A466, A474 and A4058.
4. Exceptions
Exceptions to the prohibition will be permitted for:
- Vehicles used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes
- Vehicles being used in connection with the works
- Vehicles requiring access to land or premises on or adjacent to the road
- Pedestrians and cyclists
5. Penalty for Non-Compliance
Any person who fails to comply with the Order is liable to a fine not exceeding £1,000.
