SECO: Ordinance on Measures Connected with the Situation in Ukraine

Bern, 13 December 2024 – The Federal Council has adopted an ordinance that amends the Ordinance on Measures Connected with the Situation in Ukraine with regard to the possibility of extending the protection status S for persons displaced from Ukraine. It enters into force on 1 January 2025.

The ordinance amends the Ordinance on Measures Connected with the Situation in Ukraine (SR 142.208) and concerns the possibility of extending the protection status S for persons displaced from Ukraine.

The amendment provides that the protection status S can be extended beyond the expiry of 4 March 2025 if the situation in Ukraine requires it. This is to ensure that persons displaced from Ukraine who are still in need of protection can continue to receive it in Switzerland.

The ordinance enters into force on 1 January 2025 and can be consulted on the website of the Federal Council (www.admin.ch/gov/en/start.html).
