Background

The A483 is a major trunk road in Wales, connecting the M4 motorway at Pont Abraham with the A40 trunk road at Llandeilo. The road is an important route for both local and through traffic, and is used by a variety of vehicles, including cars, lorries and buses.

The resurfacing works are necessary to maintain the safety and integrity of the road surface. The works will involve the removal of the existing road surface and its replacement with a new surface.

The Welsh Government has decided to introduce speed restrictions and a no overtaking ban during the period of works to ensure the safety of both the workforce and road users.

Alternative routes

During the period of restriction, alternative routes will be signposted. These routes include:

  • The A40 trunk road
  • The B4301 road
  • The B4302 road

The Welsh Government advises road users to allow extra time for their journeys during the period of restriction.

Welsh Government legislation

The Order is made under sections 14(1) and 15(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended. These sections give the Welsh Government the power to make orders to regulate traffic on roads in Wales.

The Order is subject to parliamentary scrutiny and will be laid before the National Assembly for Wales for approval.
