Introduction

The Welsh Government has made an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to temporarily prohibit the use of vehicles on a section of the A4076 Trunk Road in the County of Pembrokeshire.

Location of the Road Closure

The Order affects the following length of road:

  • A4076 Trunk Road from its junction with Hamilton Terrace westwards for a distance of approximately 100 metres.

Period of Closure

The Order will come into force on Tuesday, 26th December, 2024 and will have effect for a period of 18 months. However, it is anticipated that the closure will only be in place for approximately 4 weeks from the date of commencement.

Reason for Closure

The closure is necessary to enable a new pedestrian bridge to be installed over the A4076 Trunk Road.

Suitable alternative routes will be signposted locally.

Exemptions

The Order contains a number of exemptions, including:

  • Vehicles used for police, fire and rescue authority, ambulance and National Health Service purposes;
  • Vehicles used in connection with the works;
  • Vehicles used for the conveyance of disabled persons or persons of limited mobility;
  • Vehicles used in connection with a funeral;
  • Vehicles used for the purposes of delivering postal packets, mail or newspapers;
  • Vehicles used for the purposes of refuse collection;
  • Vehicles used for the purposes of delivering petrol, oil or other fuels;
  • Vehicles used for the purposes of agriculture;
  • Vehicles used for the purposes of public transport;
  • Vehicles used for the purposes of special educational needs transport;
  • Vehicles used for the purposes of road maintenance or repair;
  • Vehicles used for the purposes of surveying or investigation of the highway, works or services;
  • Vehicles used for the purposes of public service;
  • Vehicles used for the purposes of military exercises or manoeuvres;
  • Emergency service vehicles;
  • Vehicles used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their functions;
  • Vehicles used for the purposes of the conveyance of livestock; and
  • Vehicles used for the purposes of the conveyance of goods or materials to or from any premises situated on or adjacent to the length of road affected by the Order.
