The European Parliament Committee on Budgetary Control will hold a public hearing with Mr Raffaele Fitto, the European Commission’s Executive Vice-President-designate for Interinstitutional Relations and Administration, on Tuesday 14 November 2024 in Brussels.
The hearing will take place from 9.00-11.00 AM and will be web-streamed live on the European Parliament’s Multimedia Centre.
During the hearing MEPs will question Mr Fitto on his qualifications and experience for the role, as well as his vision for the future of interinstitutional relations and administration at the European Commission.
Mr Fitto is a long-standing Member of the European Parliament, having served as an MEP since 2008. He is a member of the European People’s Party (EPP) and has held a number of senior positions in the Parliament, including as the Chair of the Committee on Budgets and the Vice-Chair of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs.
In his role as Executive Vice-President, Mr Fitto will be responsible for the overall management and coordination of the European Commission’s work. He will also be responsible for the Commission’s relations with the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and other EU institutions.
The Committee on Budgetary Control is responsible for scrutinising the European Commission’s budget and ensuring that it is managed in a sound and transparent manner. The Committee also plays a role in the appointment of the European Commission’s President and Commissioners.
