Japan provides CHF 105,000 to enhance trade capacity in developing countries

Japan has contributed CHF 105,000 to the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF) Trust Fund to support activities aimed at strengthening the trade capacity of developing countries.
The contribution will be used to support EIF activities in the areas of trade policy formulation and implementation, trade negotiations, trade and investment promotion, and trade-related infrastructure development. These activities are designed to help developing countries participate more effectively in the global trading system and benefit from trade.
WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala welcomed the contribution, saying: “Japan has been a long-standing supporter of the EIF, and its continued support is essential for our work to help developing countries build their trade capacity. This contribution will help us continue to provide developing countries with the tools and expertise they need to participate more effectively in the global trading system.”
Japan’s Permanent Representative to the WTO, Ambassador Kazuyuki Yamazaki, said: “Japan is committed to supporting the EIF and its activities to strengthen the trade capacity of developing countries. We believe that the EIF plays a vital role in helping developing countries to integrate into the global economy and to benefit from trade.”
