Canada invests $10 million in young Egyptian agribusiness entrepreneurs
Cairo, Egypt – Canada is providing $10 million in funding to support young entrepreneurs in Egypt’s agribusiness sector. The funding will be provided through the Canada-Egypt Youth Entrepreneurship Facility (CEYEF), a joint initiative between the Government of Canada and the Government of Egypt.
The CEYEF is a five-year program that aims to create jobs and economic opportunities for young Egyptians by supporting them in starting and growing their own businesses in the agribusiness sector. The program will provide young entrepreneurs with access to training, mentorship, and financing.
“Canada is committed to supporting young people in Egypt,” said James Christoff, Canada’s Ambassador to Egypt. “This funding will help young Egyptians to develop the skills and knowledge they need to start and grow successful businesses in the agribusiness sector.”
The agribusiness sector is a key driver of economic growth in Egypt. It employs over 25% of the country’s workforce and contributes over 15% of the country’s GDP. The CEYEF will help to create jobs and economic opportunities for young Egyptians in this important sector.
“The CEYEF is a valuable initiative that will help to empower young Egyptians and create jobs in the agribusiness sector,” said Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Egypt’s Minister of International Cooperation. “We are grateful for Canada’s support for this important program.”
The CEYEF is part of Canada’s broader commitment to supporting economic development in Egypt. Canada has provided over $2 billion in development assistance to Egypt since 2011.
